Sometimes I find myself having a crisis of faith in myself.
I find myself berating myself for things I perceive that I have been doing wrong, and if I allow this negative talk to go on, I find confidence in myself spiraling downward.
So how should we be speaking to ourselves?
I was the hand-me-down child in my family and was spoken to in that manner into my adult life.
I allowed that to seep into my soul and it is how I learned to speak to myself.
It became my belief system, and the way I spoke to myself in the past became a self-fulfilling prophecy.
There came a time in my life when I realized that I wouldn't speak to someone I love the way I had been speaking to myself, and shouldn't I love myself first?
We all have failures and hopefully, we learn from those failures.
I have vowed to brush myself off and to treat myself more gently.
I have vowed to speak to myself the way I would speak to someone I love.
If I find myself speaking in less than a loving way I will give myself encouragement.
I will start fresh.
The wonderful thing is starting fresh is not finite. We can start over as many times as we need.
I hope you will speak with love to yourself today and every day.
Nice post Laura. It is always a great thing in life to have a re do sometimes. Happy Tuesday. Have a great day and hope the new week is good to you. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteI definitely have to start over and over to stay positive. Those past hurts never leave us so we have to dwell on the good day we are having and look forward. Sending you lots of hugs today, Diane
ReplyDeleteI personally believe that talking to ourselves with love is part of self care. I've worked hard on finding as many things as I can regarding self care. I'd share more about myself but this isn't about me, it's about you and I believe you, too, can learn more and more about self care. Please be gentle with yourself - you're doing the best you can right now.
ReplyDeletePracticing kindness should also apply to ourselves.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post. Hindsight is always 20/20...am sure we all know this or find it out early in life. I will try to remember this because I think the more I age..the more I realize if I could just go back..would have made better decisions. This is a good way to look at it and not be so hard on ourselves. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and wisdom. Hae a blesssed rest of the week.
