Simple Pleasures #44
Last week I wrote about my experience with having brain scans.
I did not have much confidence in the neurologist I was able to see in April, but getting an appointment with a neurologist at the brain center at Emory meant a one-year wait.
If I wasn't already an Emory patient I wouldn't be able to get in at all.
Good grief.
Then there was a miracle of sorts.
While I was on the phone last Friday making an appointment for next June someone canceled an appointment for Monday and I was able to grab it up.
I love my new neurologist. She was thorough, knowledgeable, caring, and she really listened.
I am so glad that I listened to my inner voice telling me the first neurologist I saw did not know what he was doing, but I also found out he had not ordered the correct MRI.
Whaaat??
I need an MRI done for Trigeminal Neuralgia, which is with and without contrast.
I couldn't get an appointment until August 10 so I have a couple of months to figure out my plan to not panic during another 45 minutes of that dreaded machine.
I know I need to breathe and stay calm.
I am glad you could get into a neuro that was caring and know what needs to be ordered so they can help you. That is scary the first neuro you saw did not know what they were doing. Yikes. Happy Friday. Have a good weekend. xoxo Kris
ReplyDeleteHello and Happy Friday,
ReplyDeleteI have had the misfortune to go through 3 MRI's within a few months last year. The first one was a painful experience. When sent for two more, the next doctor prescribed an anxiety med. to take. It made all the difference. (But I did need someone to drive me home after) This might be something to discuss with your doctor. I hope this helps. Will be praying for you to be calm and have peace.
Blessings and Love be yours today,
A reader in Oregon,
Terri
Finding the right practice makes all the difference...not all doctors are created equal! I love your post today, I already see a few posts I need to check out and I'm really taken with that pretty purse. I clicked over and it jumped into the cart!! Enjoy the weekend Laura!
ReplyDeleteHopefully the new and better doctor, will make the next MRI easier for you. The idea of that NOISE ... and to have battled thru the first one thanks to an incompetent doctor!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping things improve too and love your suggestions in this post. That series Four seasons would be right down my alley. I've read a lot of her books and loved them over the years. Take care and enjoy your Sunday afternoon!
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you were able to get the appointment with the new neurologist. It's important to feel that your health is in the right hands. I'm going to check out a few of your "stay calm" articles.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you were able to get into the new neurologist's office and she was all that you needed her to be. It's already a stressful situation so you definitely do not need the added layer of not feeling confident in the care you are receiving. I'll be keeping you in my prayers and praying you'll be able to get the MRI done sooner so you can start getting the treatments you need. Until then, keep your head up and rest in the love and light currently surrounding you. We're lifting you up! Hugs, CoCo
