Simple Pleasures #22
I remember loving winter when I was a child. Yes, it was very cold growing up in a small Canadian town, but there was so much to do.
We tobogganed dangerously down big hills, we ice skated at the local rink, we slid on our boots on long patches of ice, and we played for hours out in the snow.
At the end of the day, we came home to hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies.
These days I am not much of a fan of winter. January and February seem to be nothing but long tedious days of waiting for March to arrive.
We don't really have snow in Atlanta, except on the very rare occasion when it shuts everything down, but we do have a lot of rainy gray days.
How about you, are you a winter lover?
I am wishing for a real snow. Being a "Daughter of The North," it is in my blood, to do so. -smile-

We are getting snow and cold now here in the midwest. Today I have to say the sunshine makes the snow sparkle. The cold has been a little brutal these past few days. That soup looks so yummy. xoxo Happy Friday.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a winter person.. don't like the cold and have enough snow and shoveling and digging out in my lifetime to make me happy if I don't see anymore! I do like the look of snow on the trees and meadows, but don't really want to be IN it or driving in it! Although I must say, I don't love super hot summers either. I am a "mild climate" person and why I live in central Oregon which is so harsh, I wonder. That bean soup recipe looks delicious. I usually can't "do" beans anymore, but maybe the white beans would be OK. My mom used to make a bean soup in her crockpot years and years ago. She put ham in it and used vinegar to flavor it. It was SO good! Today is very windy here but no snow! Yes! xoxo Marilyn
ReplyDeleteI don't love winter, but I could deal with one good snowstorm a year, as it is fun to be inside all toasty, and watch the snow fall. Then, I'd like it to melt the next day :) Now that we spend winters in Florida, there's very little winter weather I have to deal with, so I can't complain. Well, except that I'm tempted to buy lots of boots and sweaters, but I just don't need that much anymore.
ReplyDeleteI am not a winter lover, but when I was a kid, my winter was like yours. And so much fun. Maybe because today, as an adult, it's all about shoveling out and navigating icy roads. Although, we are sitting under about 6 inches of the white stuff tonight, snuggled by the fire, eating freshly baked cookies. So I guess it's not all bad! Haha!
