In my lifetime I have learned many things and one of those is how I want to look at life.
Life throws many things, both good and bad, at us and those things affect our life views.
They also make us realize what is truly important.
So often our perspective on events is skewed by our past experiences.
No one's future is all roses, but we can gain a new perspective at any time in our lives.
Don't Believe That Everything Is Your Fault
When things go wrong in our lives it is easy to believe it is because of something we have done wrong.
When we blame ourselves we also get in our own way and it becomes difficult to move forward.
Of course this doesn't mean that we are never at fault, but what we can do is think things through and plan ahead for a better future.
Don't forget. You are in charge of your own life.
Step Away Without Guilt
Sometimes for our own mental health we need to step away either temporarily or permanently from an unhealthy situation or relationship.
Taking a break can help you gain a new perspective and allow you to see your way forward. Do you want to continue in a situation or is it better to move away from it, and if you decide to stay how do you see it changing?
A break can be either short or long depending on the situation. Make sure to give yourself enough time to gain a new perspective.
When are you at your happiest? For me it is when I am with my family and when I surround myself with happy people.
When you are around people who genuinely care about you and have your best interest
at heart you will find that you begin to get clarity about the things that are bothering you.
Happiness begets happiness.
In the absense of positive people a good self help book can also help you change your perspective.
Learn To Enjoy Your Own Company
While it is good to be around positive people, it is also important to be happy on your own.
We all need to develop our own perspective on life and alone time helps us to block out outside influences and to become more resilient.
It is important to learn to make your own choices that are not influenced by anyone else.
Gaining a new perspective will allow us to do just that.

Great info Laura. I am like you and happiest around my family and good friends. Staying away from negative is the best way to feel great. In the world we live I think we have to find places in our lives to take a break from the world and be with happy and loving people to refresh us. Happy New Week. xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou are so right.... we must love ourselves and enjoy our own company. I know guilt can get in the way, so I'm in a continual process of telling myself not to feel so guilty about certain things... it is a real blocker against happiness. To me, guilt is like worry, it does no good whatsover and robs us of strength and happiness. I love your insights! xoxo Marilyn
ReplyDeleteI have to say feeling guilty us a huge issue. Not sure why.
ReplyDeleteI try and stay away from negative people
You're so right about happiness begets happiness. The universe gives back the energy that you put out there.
ReplyDeleteI love this series, Laura. I'm always happiest around my family and close friends, especially when we're all laughing.
