Simple Pleasures #20
For the past few months I have been writing a post each Friday titled simple pleasures.
This week I have been thinking about just what simple pleasures mean to me because I feel sure they are different for each of us.
Simple pleasures are not big life-changing events, but instead, they are the small things that make up our days and bring us joy.
Some of mine are a walk to take away the cobwebs, the sound of laughter, a smile on the face of a loved one, a good book, a helping hand, a hug, a lazy afternoon, a long talk with an old friend, and there are so many more.
So often we lose sight of the simple pleasures because we hurry past them in search of bigger things, but finding and holding on to simple pleasures gives life meaning.
When I write this series I include such things as lovely reads I think you will enjoy, inspirational quotes, recipes, and even things I think you may want to purchase.
By doing so I hope that you will find some pleasure in them and that they might free up your time for your own simple pleasures.

Great gift ideas. I like that saying that it is not about what we give but what love we put into giving. Happy Friday. Have a great weekend. xoxo
ReplyDeleteYes I love that sentiment too... I just love to give, especially at Christmas, and I may put alot of thought into something that costs less than $10.00! But it's the thought we put into it that I think counts so much.. and it is a very simple pleasure to give to those we love. I like to also try to give to someone I don't even know.. that brings much pleasure.. like a star on the wishing tree, or a sack of food to someone who needs it. You give us much "food for thought"!!! xoxo Marilyn
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a shopper any more and I do find so much joy in simple pleasures. I like to do something special around the house when I get my chores done. I'm working on my junk journals now! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite simple pleasures is watching the birds in my backyard. Lots of interesting things in your gift guide - I had hoped someone in my family would pick up on my hint for a new kindle, so I'll be back later to check out the one in your list.
