CHRISTMAS IN MY OLD PINE CUPBOARD

Monday, December 13, 2021

A few months ago I decided to pack up all of my mom's china and give it to my daughter Cary. After all, she now has my large china cabinet and she hosts the family dinners. The dishes were just languishing in my pine cupboard.

The good news is this allowed me to change up how I decorate the cupboard and this year I decided to remove everything that was in there and decorate it for Christmas.

Since I took this original photo I have tweaked it just a bit.

These two Santas that I made 30 years ago (yikes has it really been that long?) were originally sitting in this French wire basket, but the basket was sold in my Etsy shop so they are now in a wicker basket.

As I don't have a mantle to hang my stockings on I have hung one on each of the doors.

This one was for my Shih Tzu, Pumpkin, who has been gone for eleven years, I miss her.

This was one of my stockings. Do you think Santa will find it this year? Just inside the cupboard is another of my handmade Santas.

For the first time in several years, I brought out my Christmas village and set it up on top of the cupboard. I'm so happy that I did because I love the soft glow of the lights at night

I also set another of my Santas on my old rocking horse. He seems to have lost one of his arms, but that's ok our bodies do tend to change as we grow older.

I'm happy with the farmhouse feel.

  8. I have a Shih Tzu stocking kind of like that, but my baby is black and white. I have a love - hate relationship with my white china cabinet. Love it for the look, but I have a lot of white dishes which doesn't show up good.
