Simple Pleasures #6
I love having a clean and organized home, and while most people do spring cleaning, I prefer to do my deep cleaning and organizing in the fall.
When spring rolls around I am always ready to get outside, but in the fall I know that winter will be coming and I want my home to be cozy and clean.
I remember when I would spend a few days getting it all done, but these days I am not in any hurry so I can stretch it out. I am gathering together the supplies I need and looking for some kitchen and bathroom organization.
I remember when I was a kid and the Canadian Simpson Sears catalog arrived in the mail in November. I loved looking in there for the toys I wanted.
Now, I'm looking online for cleaning supplies. How things have changed.
Simple Inspiration
I have learned that I don't have to hurry. What I don't accomplish today will still be there tomorrow and the day after.
Informative Reads I Found This Week
I started working on my combination pantry, utility, and coat closet yesterday. Yes, I have all of that and more in my small front walk-in closet. I really need inspiration and I found these fourteen pantry organizing ideas pretty amazing.
Who knew people could be so neat and tidy? Apparently not me. I personally have science projects growing at the back of my fridge, but I am furiously taking notes from these 15 kitchen organization ideas.
I love all of these space-saving organization ideas and I think my favorite might be using a tiered fruit stand to corral the items on your bathroom vanity. I have the fruit stand (It's in the closet. You know which one I am talking about), but unfortunately, my counter is a wee bit too small.
Favorite Gluten-Free Recipe This Week
This gluten-free baked penne with roasted vegetables is perfect to use up some of those veggies leftover from your garden and it's nice and hearty for a cool fall night. Of course, if you are a gluten eater you can just substitute regular penne pasta.
I like this recipe because I can divide up the leftovers and put them in the freezer for later.
If you are gluten-free like me I have added a gluten-free section to my lovely reads as a resource for you.

What I'm Watching
What I Am Listening To
I found a great free app on my iPhone, called Radio Garden Live, where I can listen to all types of live music from all around the world.
I turn on an oldies station from Prague and dance while I am cleaning and organizing. It's great exercise (I feel like a teenager. The next day I feel like I'm 90) and makes the cleaning almost fun. I did say almost.
Organizing and Cleaning From Target
I have the Shark vacuum and love it. I also use the two Method cleaners and the silver polish and highly recommend those too.
Thanks for visiting with me today.

I'm a fall cleaner, too. Spring and summer are for outside fun and after a summer full of surf and sand activity, my house needs a good scrub!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Laura... you inspire me to get cleaning! I am sending your link to my neighbor who is gluten free. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow, I didn't know you could even get that organized. Wonder if they're able to keep them organized? I don't have a linen closet either, so my sheets and pillow cases are in the dresser next to my bed. My towels are in a stand along cupboard.

I am a fall cleaner too. I do it for the same reason. I want the house clean and ready for the holidays and family time.
ReplyDeleteHi, I am an autumn cleaner too. I want to be outside in the garden in spring and summer.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea of autumn cleaning - makes much more sense! Consider me inspired! I did a lot of organizing last year and it felt so good. But, there's always more to do. My refrigerator is a disaster, so I should really start there.
ReplyDeleteFall deep cleaning to rid our home of pollen is absolutely necessary!
