French country style may also be referred to as Provincial, and although the Provincial style is somewhat more formal, it has elements that can be added into French country.
French country is loved around the world for its comfort and casual elegance, while never feeling ostentatious.
As the French are known for their fabulous cooking, I thought I would focus today on the wonderful kitchen and dining areas that are an important part of a French country home.
Dining Nooks
Picture yourself in a charming dining nook tucked away in a rustic cozy kitchen, with colorful textiles, antique paintings and trays, exposed beams, and beautifully stained wood floors.
This nook is a perfect spot to sit with a cup of tea after a long day.
Dining Nooks aren't just confined to kitchens. Small dining rooms can also be a nook in a French country-style home.
Here, the homeowner has combined a high-end light fixture with an antique chair and down-home accessories to give the room a French flea market feel.
Simple white ironstone vases are perfect accessories for holding flowers fresh from the garden or market.
Dining Rooms
In this room, traditional French country motifs fabric on the window treatments, combine with white dining chairs paired with a country table, a grain sack runner, and simple plates displayed on the wall.
An adorable dog is definitely a perfect addition.
This dining room, which features blue and white, has beautiful rustic touches of a plate rack and dining table with chairs.
A beautiful brass chandelier is a focal point in the room and vintage copper molds are perfect as wall decor.
Kitchens
This French country-inspired blue and white kitchen features vintage watering cans, trays, and glass accessories,
while the white background of this chic French country kitchen showcases copper cookware and wrought iron hardware.
