No matter how large or small my homes have been I have always wanted them to be somewhere that I love walking into and then feeling comfortable as I live there.
This little apartment is no different and it often requires me to sit and look at a space to know exactly what I want to do.
I have partially finished my bedroom, finished being a relative term as I know I will always be tweaking it.
Today I thought I would share one corner of the space, as it is the most finished part of the room.
I love when I walk into it and see this.
This room has wonderful light with its wonderful floor to ceiling window,
Over the bed I have hung an original oil painting along with four vintage butterfly prints.
I decided to use my brass lamps in here. I have had these lamps for about 40 years, but didn't use them in my last apartment. I'm happy to be using them again.
I also continued the butterfly theme with the magazine holder. It's nice to have magazines by my bed for late night reading when I want some decor inspiration.
This old wicker chair is a wonderful place to sit and read or just gaze out of the window. My Betsy Wetsy doll that I got for Christmas 62 years ago sits there most of the time, but she doesn't begrudge me my time there too.
I've draped one of my quilts over the back of the chair because I wanted a true cottage feel in this room.
I've simplified the shelf in this apartment with a plant, a plate, a christening gown, and a blue straw hat.
Yes, my plants continue to multiply and I've got plans for the other wall in this room for more plant display. (I may need a twelve step program)
Hi Laura your bedroom is looking great. What a treasure to have the doll for 62 years. Your vintage prints look pretty over the bed too.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you had more positive garden surprises.
Cindy
Thanks, Cindy. I did come home to more garden surprises.
DeleteIt is just lovely, Laura. Vintage pieces and they fit the room perfectly. I really hope you love living there and are as happy as can be! xoDiana
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Diana. I am very happy here.
DeleteWhat you have created so far in your bedroom is lovely and peaceful.
ReplyDeleteIt is very peaceful. I am sleeping so much better here.
DeleteI'd love to find a christening gown similar to that one. It just adds something special to your room. I see your space as cozy and flea market style mixed with cottage style. A favorite look of mine. I know you enjoy the light from that window. Happy new home, Laura!

Thanks, Brenda. I love hunting for the perfect pieces and getting them at very reasonable prices. The christening gown was in a box of antique linens I bought at auction a few years ago. I just love it.
DeleteLooking so good Laura. Love that chippy white end table. Sooooo cute.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
That end table is one of my favorite pieces.
DeleteI love this charming room, Laura! The blue and white is so fresh and your beautiful collected pieces give it such a cozy feeling...perfect for a nap.
ReplyDeleteIt is toooo perfect of a nap. I try to avoid it when I get sleepy in the afternoon. LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet spot you've created in your bedroom! I love the blues and whites. I had a tiny rental house a few years ago, and could just barely fit in my queen bed and a dresser... but I had the prettiest blue and white quilt on the bed, with the white low antique dresser, and a very similar white wicker chair in the corner with a quilt on the back (like yours!) and I LOVED that little bedroom! What a trip down memory lane when you mentioned your Betsy Wetsy doll. I had one too! That was my first baby doll and probably the only one I had when I was a little girl! What fun memories! I'm glad you're enjoying your new home and location too. xoxo Marilyn
ReplyDeleteI think we are kindred souls. I think this is my favorite bedroom. It is so cozy. Betsy has always been with me. Like me she has aged.
