DUSTING OFF MY LIFE

Friday, May 22, 2015

Hello lovely friends. I am so glad that you are still here. That you have managed to fight your way through the cobwebs on this blog this past week.

Mom is moved into her new apartment. Hooray!! There are still boxes to be unpacked and pictures to be hung, but I told her I needed a day off. Besides the fact that every muscle in my body is complaining, my life has gotten a bit dusty, and I'm not just talking about the furniture in my home (although it definitely needs dusting). My blog, my Etsy shop, my antique booth, and my life in general have been in a holding pattern and they all need to be dusted off and put back into circulation.

Life has gotten to be anything but simple and serene with this move. It seems that when you look away for a bit, problems seem to mount up, as if they are just waiting for you to lose your focus so they can sneak in and disrupt the flow you have worked so hard to create.

Today I will work to recapture that flow and to get rid of the dust and cobwebs. I am making my list. There are phone calls to be made, items to be photographed and listed in my shop, blogs to visit, advertisers to catch up with, an auction to attend, and most importantly of all a Facetime date with my grandchildren this afternoon.

It will be a busy day, but it feels good to be getting back to my life today. No matter how much we love our families and want to help them, we have to remember to take care of ourselves too.

  6. So true Laura! I am hoping for a few days at home to work on getting my home back in shape after the rough couple of weeks I've had. It is so true, you do have to remember to take time for yourself in the midst of taking care of loved one's. I've got a gift certificate with my name on it for a massage and pedicure at a local spa! It's from last years birthday and I am going to FINALLY use it!!

  11. Yes, it's hard to keep the focus that if caregivers stop care giving for themselves, there will be no one too look after the care givees. It's important.

Wishing you a peaceful and lots of time for regrouping of soul and mind.

    Best...

  13. I'm glad that you got your mother moved and settled. It's amazing the amount of 'dust' that gathers when we are otherwise engaged with life's issues. All the best to you in your 'cleaning'. Enjoy the holiday weekend.

  14. That moment when you finally get to sit back and reflect...knowing that you have done all you can for the day. That's yours now. Glad to hear that your Mom is settled, and I hope that she makes lots of good friends there.

  15. I understand. It's definitely hard to juggle a lot of balls in the air at one time. I hope this weekend will bring you the time you need to feel more organized and refreshed.

  16. So true Laura when life happens sometimes it is consuming. Glad your mom got all moved in and you are taking a day or two to yourself. I helped my daughter and SIL move into their new home a week ago and I understand the yelling of those muscles that you did not even know you had lol! Enjoy the holiday week end.
