Then I realized that those moments are occurring constantly, but somehow I have forgotten to stop and just enjoy them.
Instead of planning, I close my eyes and breathe in the sounds around me.
How many sounds go unnoticed in our hurrying world. The ticking of the clock beside my bed. The swish of the tires of passing cars in the street outside my window. The shouts and laughter of children as they wait for the school bus. The distant sound of a train whistle.
I feel my heart rate slow down and the worry lines on my face ease. I take in just this moment without worrying about what lies ahead.
Where are the simple moments? They are right now. We just have to stop and enjoy them.
such beautiful inspiring words,
ReplyDeleteThank you, Laurie.
DeleteThis is a good reminder for a Monday morning :-)
ReplyDeleteI think it is a good way to start the day and the week, Vicki :)
DeleteIt's just crazy that we have to be reminded about the good things all around us. Just to stop, breathe and let our senses take in the moment.
ReplyDeleteGreat words of inspiration Laura!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely true, Laura! And it's so easy to forget that in our big rush through life! Thank you for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteSo true. I seek out parks, but not nearly enough...to enjoy nature and therefore God, at. I like to lay in a comfortable chair, and watch the fire in my fireplace. During the summer, I love to sit on my patio, enjoy my flowers, and the tinkling sound of our large wind chime. Outside of time with grandchildren, each of those types of moments are the best life has to offer, aren't they?
ReplyDeletegreat post. :)
Your post reminded me of summer when I sit outside and hear the birdsong :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful post!
ReplyDeleteGosh that is such a good reminder! They are all around us but we're all too busy to stop and take notice sometimes. Thanks for reminding us to slow down a bit and notice the pleasantries around us.
ReplyDeleteThe simple moments are the best.
ReplyDeleteI do try to stop and smell the roses and listen to the birds sing. :)
