just another day, really

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

Most days seem pretty much the same. There are of course those ups and downs, those unexpected happenings, those little surprises. But today, so far, has been just another day.

I always start out with a healing meditation before heading to the kitchen to prepare my morning green juice.

I make sure to thank all the beautiful organic produce and roots that will help in giving me a healthy body.

Then after a bowl of oatmeal and a quick perusal of the newspaper, I carry my cup of tea into my bedroom to start on the days work.

There always seems to be so much to do with never enough time for all of it. Writing my blog, reading all of your wonderful blogs, finding new blog friends (I have set a goal of five new blogs each day), promoting on social media, photographing and listing in my Etsy shop, and the everyday household chores. Once a week I go to my booth to clean, organize, and add new items. Two or three times a week I go to auctions and out thrifting.

Today I took time for lunch at a neighborhood diner. Good home style cooking with large enough portions that I can bring half of it home for lunch tomorrow.

The leaves are really starting to change here, letting me know that I need to put away the remainder of my cropped pants and bring out the boots and long pants. Time to move with the seasons.

While digging through the coat closet I came across this beautiful hand knit winter hat.

I won it in a giveaway last spring from the talented Buttons. Please visit her wonderful blog here. I held off sharing it, because we were all into springy things back then and I knew I was going to love pulling it out when the weather turned cooler. If you look closely you will see a photo of her cow, Bossy2, wearing my hat. I'm thinking it might look cuter on her, but I'm not giving it back.

And now it is time to get down to those little everyday cleaning chores. Okay I might be messy, but I look like Nancy Homemaker compared to this.

So yes, it has been just another day. Enjoy yours.

  3. Cute hat, Laura. It always amazes me that people can do things like that. Your breakfast drink looks intriguing. What are all the things you put in it? I just cannot drink kale. Oh dear. Is that kale in the photo?

Where do you have your booth, Laura? Do you have to pay a monthly fee wherever it is? I'd LOVE to do that! Have a booth, that is. Susan

    1. Isn't is just the cutest hat. I am amazed that people can do that. too. I have never even attempted to knit.

It isn't kale. It is dandelion greens. I also put in an organic apple, carrot, lemon, turmeric root, and ginger root. I do sometimes use kale or spinach if I can't get the dandelion greens, but I can't digest them as well.

My booth is here in Lexington, Ky at the Peddler's Mall. I do pay a monthly rental fee for it. I am not making a lot off of it, but I am hoping it will pick up. I think it is kind of a learning experience of what the people who go there buy. I'm definitely still learning :)

  4. Oh Laura I am sure Bossy2 does not look as beautiful as you wearing the hat. Just the other day when she was trying on another one she wondered why it kept falling off her head and asked if I could make them bigger:) I am so happy you won one of my hats I am sure it will look beautiful on you.
That is an interesting breakfast I shall have to try it.
I think anyone that can run a booth and go to auctions and thrifting to fill that space is an amazingly talented person, that takes a lot of work.
Thank you my friend for thinking of me and enjoy the hat, looks like winter will be early this year. HUGS B

    1. I love going to neighborhood restaurants. I feel like they know you and it brings back memories of when I was growing up. Sometimes we just need comfort food.

  6. Love that hat!! I like big portions so I can bring some home, makes eating out reasonable! :) You sound so organized with your week. I try but mine seems to be just flying by the seat of my pants lately!

    1. I try to stay as organized as possible. I am a list maker. Otherwise I forget what I have to do. I like big portions too. I don't eat out often so I need to stretch it when I do. :)

  7. I need to get back to juice or green smoothy every morning. I sure felt better when I drank them. I have been meaning to check out a little mall downtown for selling my quilts and vintage Items. I pray things pick up on etsy as well. Debbie

    1. I feel so much better when I drink my green juice every morning. It brought my BP down to normal without any meds. I'm sure you could do well selling your quilts and vintage items. I think you should go for it. :)

  9. Early this morning I read your post, Laura. I thought I don’t need to comment. Laura is in a good place and I will go on with my ordinary life too. Then the BBC reported the trouble in Canada. Maybe this comment should wait for Women Speak, but as regardless of lines on a map we are all connected. I wish we could all go back to our ordinary day.

    1. I know, Lynn. As I grew up in Ontario and still have friends there I felt especially troubled. Canada always has seemed like such a safe place to me. I guess nowhere really is anymore. Yes, I wish we could just go back to our normal day.
