and although I love all of the sights of early morning, one of the best things is the sounds of early morning in my neighborhood.
the singing of birds.
the chirping of cicadas.
the hum of a lawnmower.
the laughter of a family as they eat breakfast on their screened porch.
the swish of tires as a bicyclist rides by.
the thump of a newspaper as it hits a front porch.
the peaceful drone of an airplane as it passes overhead.
Yes, I love the sounds of an early morning summer day.
They speak of continuance and of promises.
I wish I could bottle them up to savor on a cold winter day.

You are SO right! I love those sounds too. I never really thought of it that way before. Those are all missing during the winter aren't they? Thanks for the mental images you gave me.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this post! You have a good way with words.

Laura, I understand what you mean about bottling something summery for a winter's day. I have a dvd of my brother and his friends playing baseball, it was after my nephew came home from war. I see young people , kids, and my family. I can hear swings and people laughing. I love to watch this on a winter day. Take care. Enjoy your weekend. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteI'm usually more of a visual person, but you've inspired me to try to "tune in" more to the sounds on my morning walks.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous post. I love the mornings too. I so looking forward to them where we are going. I remember them when we lived near there once before and they were great!!!

Beautifully expressed. I love early morning sounds, as well. And maybe, just maybe, if this terrible spell of heat and humidity has broken, I will be able to open the windows and hear them again!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining in this week.
