here I come.......

Yes, I am able to drive again. After over six weeks of having to be ferried around, I am able to get behind the wheel and take myself to all the places I have been missing.

I feel like a sixteen year old who has just gotten her license for the first time.

I'm sure you remember that feeling.

The first thing my friends and I did was cruise around the town in my mom's car looking for boys. The windows were down (no a/c) and we thought we were pretty cool in that big old Chrysler.

Okay, I'm not looking for boys, but I am visiting some favorite places.

Yes, my priorities have changed, but that wonderful sense of freedom is still there.

  2. Having to rely on other people to get around is such a pain. Good to hear you can get our on your own now :)

I wish we had a Whole Foods where I live.

  3. When we got our lisences my friend and l borrowed her fathers old ford and drove to town looking for boys ;-) he was a carpenter and the back of the car was full of his working tools. Can still hear the sound of them ratteling around in the back, when we hit the brake a whole bunch of stuff came flying forward :-). Must be wonderful to finally be able to drive again, enjoy it to the full and hope your knee will be as good as new very soon. Pam xx

  4. So glad you're back out there.
I have a giant Whole Foods by my house and my mom and I joke that we could live there...literally, with a cot in the back :)

Trader Joes is my favorite though. I buy almost everything my family eats in that one little store. When I visit bigger grocery stores I feel overwhelmed and confused.

My entire blog post today is from Trader Joes in fact.
    Can't get enough!

    Happy driving!

  6. Oh my that must feel so good! I too drove a giant old Chrysler- a station wagon- when I first drove. I think when you barely touched the gas pedal those big old things went 40 mph. It was a tank but we had so much fun! Thanks for the reminder...

  9. Good for you! Freedom! Judy's friend had a knee replacement after I had ankle surgery. He was up and about and driving while I was still in a wheel chair. What is it about knees that seem to heal faster? I was so jealous, for then I had to go into a boot. Still couldn't drive! The birds are darting about and I want to get out and about.

  16. Congratulations on getting back to driving! There's nothing worse than feeling dependent on others for every need. Now, you have your freedom back. Looks like you spent the day well.

  17. I am so happy that you were able to get out and about today. I hope you turned up the radio and rolled down the windows (for at least a few minutes). Was your most recent knee surgery on your "driving" leg? Driving and shopping, physical and retail therapy combined into one fun day. It's great that you are healing so well. Your progress is an inspiration to me.
