A small pot of daffodils on the windowsill to chase away the winter blues.
Morning coffee with close friends. A time for laughter and sharing.
Short text messages with a grandchild to brighten a gloomy day.
Afternoon tea with homemade cornbread and a good book on my Kindle.
A short walk in the snow to share lunch with my mom.
Planning a potluck lunch for a snowy day.
Pulling out a vintage needlepoint project that has been hiding in the basket beside my chair for far too long and realizing how well it will go with my settee.
These aren't exciting things, but they are the simple things that make up my life. They are all things that enrich it.
I am grateful.
I enjoy the simple things so much these days!
ReplyDeleteI think as we get older, Linda we realize more and more how important the simple things are.
DeleteLovely post! The small simple things are what I want in life...and ordinary days are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI was reading an article today about how people who live ordinary lives are the happiest.
DeleteHot tea and a spot of cornbread sounds wonderful! I agree with you that these small simple things add so much to life. We do have to take the time to realize how important they are. :)
ReplyDeleteNothing better than a spot of tea and some cornbread with jam on a cold day.
DeleteThere is much joy to be had in the simple things if we would only open our eyes and hearts and truly see.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day today ~ FlowerLady
I guess we just need to slow down to appreciate it all.
DeleteIt is the simple things that make up our lives, not the big things. I say you're exactly right: savor the moments.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I'm trying very hard to savor the moments, Brenda and I am learning to enjoy my own company more and more.
DeleteI think you're perfectly right. Small things are very important. Even when I had a bad day, there's always a little thing that's going to make me smile.
